- The engine cranks, but does not start. Found misfire fault codes on all cylinders. Performed compression test and found no compression on all cylinders and valve timing is excessively off. Need to perform cylinder leakage test to find cause of low compression. Valve timing will need to be set to specification for leakage test and will require tear down & inspect to find cause. Removed front timing cover and found the main timing chain hydraulic tensioner has failed, causing excessive slack in chain. Replaced the tensioner and was able to set timing for cylinder leakage test. Performed leakage test and found the #1 cylinder has 70% leakage due to bent exhaust valve. The #4 cylinder has 70% leakage due to bent intake valve. Cylinder head needs valve job. Recommend replace engine. Customer declined further repair at this time. Vehicle towed from shop.
